As we step into a new year, there’s no better time to reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re headed. For me, it’s always been a season of dreaming big, aligning my goals with God’s purpose, and trusting that He has equipped me with everything I need to fulfill the calling He has placed on my life. I’ve learned over the years that it’s not enough to simply dream—you’ve got to write down those dreams, set goals, and take actionable steps toward what God has in store for you. If you’re ready to make this year count and step into your God-given talent, here are four books that I highly recommend:
1 - Created to Dream by Rick Warren
I love how Rick Warren emphasizes that dreaming is not just for the ambitious, but a part of God’s plan for each of us. This book helped me see that my dreams aren’t random—they’re a reflection of the unique gifts God has given me. In this new year, it’s important to set aside time to dream with purpose and ask God how He wants to use my passions for His glory. If you’ve ever felt unsure about your dreams or purpose, this book will inspire you to start the journey of discovering what God has already placed in your heart.
2 - Dream It, Pin It, Live It by Terri Savelle Foy
I’ve always believed in the power of vision boards, and this book took it to a whole new level. Terri Savelle Foy encourages us to take our dreams seriously by pinning them to a vision board and then living them out. It’s more than just a creative activity; it’s about setting goals, staying focused, and working towards what God has put before us. The start of a new year is the perfect opportunity to do this—write your dreams down, make them visual, and take steps every day to make them a reality.
3 - Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett & Dave Evans
This one is a game-changer. Bill Burnett and Dave Evans teach you how to approach your life with the same mindset as a designer—creating, testing, and refining as you go. Life isn’t meant to be static, and neither is your calling. This book helped me realise that my purpose isn’t just about a fixed destination but about continuously designing a life that aligns with God’s will. The new year brings with it endless possibilities, and this book offers practical strategies to make intentional, fulfilling choices about the life you’re building.
4 - S.H.A.P.E. by Erik Rees
I believe we are each uniquely designed for a purpose. This book explores how understanding our spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences (S.H.A.P.E.) can help us discover God’s plan for our lives. It was a powerful reminder that when we use our unique qualities to serve others and honor God, we are fulfilling our calling. At the start of a new year, this is the perfect time to dig deep into who you are and how you can make a difference with what God has already placed inside you.
Dreaming big, setting goals, and stepping into your God-given talent is essential for living a purposeful life. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget to intentionally align our plans with God’s will. But when we take the time to dream, set clear goals, and trust in His timing, we can step into the life He’s always envisioned for us. Here’s to a year of purpose, growth, and trusting in God’s plan for our lives!
